Die Pein vom Haupt entfernen
The latest release on Rund um den Watzmann is once again not just a simple record, this time it’s an LP with a primitive film projector called „zoetrope“. Both record and zoetrope can be played on a standard record player. The 8 musical pieces are connected to the 8 short films, which can both be listened to and seen on your record player. No complicated assembly kit, no risk for your record player, everything is quickly installed and again adds, as usual with these Rund um den Watzmann releases, a new dimension to the medium „long-player“.
Felix Knoth, also known as Felix Kubin, 1/2 Klangkrieg or 1/4 Liedertafel Margot Honnecker, realized a short film with the same title in 1994, which I saw at the AVE-festival ‘95 in Arnhem. A film full of hectic, many frame-by-frame shots, a reflection on Felix Knoth himself. The music belonging to this even intensifies the restlessness. Shortly after I had seen that film I got the idea to re-cut this beautiful film and to use several scenes from it for an LP-object, never done before. After a lot of starting problems, models, tests, detours, help and refinements, finally this year-long struggle has resulted in this unique release. An archetype in the tradition of the Toedliche Doris Box or the Vegetarian Bavarian in Exile Box, apparently it has to be a box again.
